1. Who we are and scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the Levity iPhone application and its support website. Levity is developed and provided by Ron Vaisman, referred to as “Levity,” “we,” “us,” or “our.” For privacy questions or requests, email ronvaisman@gmail.com.
2. The short version
Levity does not require an account and does not collect photos, videos, photo metadata, visual fingerprints, app activity, advertising identifiers, or diagnostics on developer-controlled servers. We do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or track you across apps and websites.
3. Photo Library access
If you grant permission, Levity uses Apple’s Photos framework to:
- display the photos and videos available under your chosen access level;
- organize them into months, albums, and categories;
- estimate file sizes and play video previews;
- identify visually similar photos; and
- ask Apple Photos to delete only items you confirm.
Similarity analysis, including Apple Vision feature-print generation, happens on your device. Levity does not upload your library to us. If iCloud Photos is enabled, Apple Photos may download an item from iCloud so the requested preview or analysis can occur. Apple, not Levity, operates that sync.
4. Data kept on your device
Levity stores the following information in its local app storage so its features work and your progress survives closing the app:
- photo asset identifiers and your keep, release, or later decisions;
- items staged for Review;
- local visual feature prints and cached similar-photo groups;
- cleanup history such as dates, item counts, and estimated bytes;
- activity streaks, Lumi progress, and earned bonuses;
- onboarding status, preferences, and daily free-use counts; and
- Apple purchase entitlement status.
Levity does not store separate copies of your photos or videos. The app does not transmit this local data to us.
5. Deletion and Recently Deleted
A swipe does not immediately delete an item. Items marked for release are staged until you confirm them in Review and approve Apple’s system prompt. Apple Photos then moves confirmed items to Recently Deleted. Apple generally keeps them there for up to 30 days unless you recover or permanently delete them sooner. If iCloud Photos is enabled, changes can sync across devices signed in to the same Apple Account.
6. Purchases and Apple
In-app purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit. We do not receive or store your payment card details or full Apple Account information. The app receives transaction and entitlement information needed to verify and restore access. Apple processes purchase information under Apple’s Privacy Policy and its applicable terms.
7. Support and website data
The app itself does not send analytics or diagnostic data to us. If you email support, we receive the address you use, message content, and standard email metadata, plus anything you voluntarily attach. Please do not send private photos unless they are essential to your request. We use support messages to respond, troubleshoot, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.
Our static support pages are hosted by GitHub Pages. GitHub and the email provider may process basic connection, security, and delivery data under their own privacy policies. We do not add advertising or analytics scripts to these pages.
8. Purposes and legal bases
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis:
- local Photo Library access is based on the permission you choose and is used to perform features you request;
- support correspondence is processed to respond to your request and perform our agreement with you;
- we may rely on legitimate interests for support, service security, abuse prevention, and necessary recordkeeping; and
- we may process information where needed to comply with law or protect legal rights.
9. Retention and deletion
Local app data remains until you change a decision, it is removed through app behavior, or you delete the app. Deleting Levity removes its local app container according to iOS behavior, but does not delete items managed by Apple Photos. Support correspondence is kept only as long as reasonably needed for the request, legal compliance, dispute resolution, and security, then deleted or de-identified. Legal or backup requirements may delay final removal for a limited period.
10. Your choices and privacy rights
You can change or revoke Photo Library access in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security, Photos, Levity. Limited Photos access lets you choose which items Levity can see.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of personal information, withdraw consent, receive a portable copy, appeal a response, or complain to your local data-protection authority. Email requests to ronvaisman@gmail.com. We may need to verify a request, and some information may be retained where law permits or requires it.
11. California and similar US state disclosures
During the preceding 12 months, the only categories of personal information we may have collected directly are identifiers and correspondence that a person voluntarily provided when contacting support, together with standard website connection data processed by the page host. We use this information for support, security, and legal compliance. We do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics, or knowingly sell or share personal information of anyone under 16. We do not offer financial incentives for personal information.
12. Sharing and international processing
We disclose information only when you direct us, to service providers needed for support or static-page hosting, to protect rights and safety, in connection with a lawful transfer of Levity, or when law requires it. Support and website providers may process data in countries other than your own and apply safeguards required by applicable law.
13. Security
Because core app data stays on your device, it benefits from protections provided by iOS and your device security settings. We use reasonable safeguards for information we receive through support. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
14. Children
Levity is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13. It does not require an account or knowingly collect personal information from children through the app. If a child needs to contact support, a parent or guardian should make the request. If you believe a child sent us personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where required.
15. Changes and contact
We may update this policy when Levity or the law changes. We will post the revised policy, change the effective date, and provide additional notice in the app when a material change requires it.
